Beaufort, a historic district in the state of South Carolina, is noted for its surviving pre-Civil War architecture influenced by the classical styles introduced by European settlers. This style included symmetrical and highly geometric décor that combined with neoclassical columns and pillars including highly decorative balconies and often, staircases with wide steps, thick handrails and slender balusters. Our Beaufort balusters draw on this period of décor with their simple three-turn centre twist that attracts the eye without overpowering the surroundings.
