Beaufort is a historic district in the state of South Carolina. The area is noted for its surviving pre-Civil War architecture influenced by the classical styles introduced by European settlers. This style, symmetrical and highly geometric, combined with grand statements such as neoclassical columns and pillars, highly decorative balconies and often, staircases with thick handrails, wide steps and slender balusters. Our Beaufort balusters draw on this period of décor with their simple three-turn centre twist which attracts the eye without overpowering the surroundings. |
